Emerging Monarchs

I didn't do too much in the way of art work this weekend. Wasn't feeling very good. Just didn't have the energy. I helped a bit with the back yard though. Jerry made a nice back porch extension area for my birthday. Of course his lordship loves it. Here's another view.

I really love it. Can't wait to sit outside and BBQ!

As we were doing all this building and beautifying, I came across a crysalis on the side of one of our herb pots and saw that it was beginning to darken. Well, this morning, there she was. Her wings still wet. His lordship was in the yard but far from her so I thought I'll just grab my coffee real quick. One minute... one stinkin' minute and the little killer was on her! Luckily I got to them in time and shoved him away. I let her grab my finger with her feet and put her in the firebush.

Here she is and a half hour later she was fine... moving about and drying off.

After all that drama, I decided to staple my egret to canvas stretchers. I'll have to make a frame for this as it's an odd shape. I do not like stretching canvas. Not my thing at all.

We did collages in Messy Art today. This was by far the best!

Air dry clay

We painted our pinch pots today!

We used tempera paints. Two coats is good. You could go over these with an acrylic glaze to give it a more "glazed" look.
He turned out blue. Maybe a wine stopper.

This and that

I really have no idea what I've been doing. When I sit and think about it, it's all a blur. Seems like all my time has been consumed with going to doctors and working. But have 4 days off coming up so that is good.

The 12 pick color sequence is coming along nicely. Slowly but nicely. I really love this pattern.

I was having a bit of trouble beating down the middle portion so I stuck a rag under the offending warp ends like so...

... and problem no more.

This is the latest inkle band. Not loving the colors but what did I expect seriously. That's what I get for not just ordering some nice 5/2 cotton online and using the boring stuff from the craft store instead. I think I want to do one in wool next time anyway.

Messy art:

We played with air dry clay and learned about pinch pots. These are easy and probably the first thing you learn to make in pottery. Here is a little video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReRCcDGMQNQ
Next week, when the pots are dry, we will paint them using acrylic paint and a gloss varnish. Of course not everyone followed directions and did pinch pots... including me. Here's my little guy

I might make a little art doll out of him or something. I like him.

A little video to make you smile. Love this!!!
