Block play

My life now is consumed with waiting for this reluctant little grandchild who will not be born. He is a boy after all, and I'm told they are lazy. However, I did manage to get some work done in the studio yesterday, finally.

I finished the top and bottom borders for Many Moons. Now working on the sides. While slowly waking up this morning, I decided to do each corner in the above yellow fabric (with a crescent moon in each block) and a sort of back and forth flying geese pattern for the sides in above two colors.

I also started thinking about my story quilt again. I'm thinking I'd like to add some sawtooth star blocks.

Also, I originally thought I'd do a black and white small block background, but the black and white made me feel a bit overwhelmed... I played with black and purple, in an Amish sort of way, and really liked the results. You can see the difference in the above sketch.

Well, my daughter went to the doctor and was told there is no dilation, even though she had a show. So there's no change

Well who knew

Howdy! Yes, I'm back. I came into the old Warped and Woaded blogspot to look for a picture and realized, hey... people are still visiting this site! What the heck?! Why not just come back here...I can change my mind right? I'm a woman.

Since it's been well over a year, let's play a little catch up shall we?
Biggest event... remember how I was saying there are no grandchildren on the horizon as of yet? Well, that's changed. We're now expecting not one but two grandchildren. One daughter is having a boy and the other a girl. Couldn't ask for any better than that!

I haven't been weaving. It's just too physically taxing. I have however been quilting. As a weaver, I was really missing that connection with fiber. Quilting gives me that.

Not much else is new. This feels pretty right coming back to the old blog. I think I just needed a break. So happy new year to all...may 2016 find you up and dancing!

June happnins

Well, yet another child is moving away. Is it me? Do I offend? Actually I am very happy for them... the newlyweds. Chris got a job with BMW in Jacksonville and Bridget is going to go to U of N Florida for nutrition. Che, who is up there already, got a job in Palatka today, so it is all working out to plan. A plan I guess God has going that he hasn't actually clued me in on yet, but who am I to question. I am just happy for all of them. No, no... don't feel bad about leaving your poor old mother behind. I'll manage somehow...

I'm just not as good at the old Irish Catholic mother guilt as my mom is... hmmm....

Jerry thought that since the parsonage is surrounded by lakes on both sides , it would make sense to get a boat. Just a little fun 14' skiff. He's naming her after one of my favorite literary characters, The Orry Baxter. Awesome name!

Another message is emerging from the swamp... g...

I see someone has been weaving a lot more than me lately....

The garden is looking pretty good these days. The drought conditions of summer haven't taken hold yet. The rose bush is producing with a vengence!

Piecing some colors to Mr. Gator. Hmmmm.... not sure I'm liking this at all. Will need to play around with it some more.

Turn the lights off

Sewing machine blues

One of the first tenets of slow cloth is the joy of the process. Pretty sure they were not talking about sewing machines here...

My arch nemesis... Singer. It doesn't have to be Singer though. It can be any sewing machine. They hate me.

I needed to sew some strips together for my little manatee pal project. Though I am not a fan of machine sewing, I knew it was the best tool for this job. Not having tiny child hands, it took what felt like an hour to get the bobbin case set up. Finally got it together and started strippin'

And I must strip quickly, as another denizen is waiting on the design table to be rendered forth in thread.

I have not gotten much done... slow going on the rug, gathering some dye material, sewing manatee to a new home background. Slow cloth and slow me... but in my defense I have been just a little busy and preoccupied lately because of this...

More on this later :-)
