Dye palette
I am working on creating a set color palette for inkle weaving. I am trying to chose colors that are as close to natural dye colors as possible. I have gone down the natural dye road before and it isn't for me so this is next best.
So far I have tried Jacquard Acid Dye in olive, ochre, pumpkin orange and fire red. Not that crazy for the pumpkin orange. It is a little too bright and cheery... sort of artificial. I think I'll try the burnt orange next time.
The fire red was a disappointment. Here it is shown on the right and that is crimson (I think) on the left which I liked better. But not really crazy about either.
Here are color samples with the amount of dye used for future reference.
I'm thinking I would also like to try these colors with coil baskets and small tapestry on the Mirrix loom. I emailed Jacquard to see which dye, in their opinion, was closest to madder and indigo.
